EMS Instructor Course

This course is designed to introduce the EMS provider to fundamental principles of education including educator roles, principles of adult learning, learning styles, diversity, domains of learning, legal issues, the learning environment, field and clinical learning, state and accreditation requirements. The student will be expected to accept accountability for personal learning and performance which reflects a basic understanding and ability to apply knowledge and skills to the development of goals and objectives, a course syllabus, lesson plans, assessment and evaluation of student performance, simulation use, and teaching methodologies. This course meets all requirements for the Oklahoma EMS Instructor Course. 

*Text REQUIRED:  Foundations of Education: An EMS Approach 2nd ed., National association of EMS Educators ISBN-13: 978-1-111-13488-4 ISBN 10-1-111-13488-X (can be rented online). Instructors may want to purchase as a reference tool.

*Note: All didactic will be offered online through the Blackboard LMS. You will receive your username and password within 48 hours of the course start date. There will be a face to face day for presentations on Thursday, July 27, 9:00-5:00 pm, Tulsa Community College, Northeast Campus, 3727 E. Apache St. Tulsa, OK 74115.  If students are unable to attend they should let the instructor know ASAP so you can make other arrangements.
