Phase 2: Advanced Quality Technician

Quality Technician Workforce Certificate Program

The Quality Technician Workforce Certificate is offered in three phases. Each phase adds new tools to the box for the quality technician, resulting in a broad knowledge and skill base relevant to the needs of the quality field, and a solid foundation for quality leaders. Candidates who complete the program may also be eligible to apply these certificates for credit toward a degree at TCC.

Phase 2: Advanced Quality Technician

*Pre-requisite: Quality Technician Certificate

  • ENGT 1313 - Manufacturing Processes
  • QCTT 2153 - Lean, Six Sigma and Quality Systems
  • QCTT 1443 - Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

In Phase 2, students will explore the process of making products and various methods used to convert raw materials into finished goods that conform to design specifications. Building on the introduction to quality from Phase 1, students will identify and apply modern concepts of Lean, Six Sigma, and Total Quality Management to the manufacturing and quality processes. Finally, candidates will identify and apply the concepts of GD&T (consistent with the ASME Y14.5 -2009 standard), and describe how Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is used in technical drawings to fully describe all features of parts and ensure proper function of those parts in assemblies. Students completing this phase will be eligible to receive the Advanced Quality Technician Workforce Certificate.

    Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing

An in depth study of dimensional tolerancing as identified in the American National Standards Institute, ANSI Y 14.5 specification. This course will explore the meaning of symbols used in the International Standard, their application and the processes necessary to achieve the specified geometry, as well as the common practices used in Engineering drawings and practical limits and challenges in the manufacturing environment.

*Prerequisite: QCTT 1223 or any DRFT class. Cross listed as QCTT 1443 and ENGT 1443.
